WELCOME Hello and welcome to your child's Reading Connections class. My name is Dr. Wingate, and I am very excited about working with your student to help he/she reach their highest reading potential. On this website you will find information about the curriculum that your child will be using this year, my current grading and behavior policy, as well as weekly reading tips that will help your child achieve reading success. CURRICULUM The Curriculum your child will be using in this year's Reading Connections class is a program titled Read 180. Read 180 is a comprehensive intervention program designed to help struggling readers achieve reading success. The program was specifically designed for students in grades 3-12. The Read 180 instructional model is centered around a 5 rotation instructional model. The 5 rotations include: Whole-group instruction, small-group instruction, read 180 software (computer time), modeled and independent reading, and whole-group wrap-up. Read 180 is an intervention program used in 50 states and is currently used in 15,000 schools nation wide.

CLASSROOM RULES 1. Listen and follow directions the first time they are given.
